Kim & Jared's Engagement Portraits in Woodville, MS

Kim and Jared took their engagement pictures in the gorgeous, hidden treasure of downtown Woodville, MS. I don't remember how I discovered Woodville. All you see from the highway is a Sonic and a dollar store there. But, when you turn off the highway, you find a neat town square, some nice people, and some pretty old buildings.

Jared and Kim met in high school at Centreville Academy, and I did Kim's little sister's senior portraits a couple years ago. One funny part about this photo shoot was that Kim and Jared seemed like such good friends that I was almost afraid to ask them to touch each other to pose!

That day, after Kim and Jared's morning photo shoot, I grabbed some coffee and a biscuit at the little corner cafe on the square in Woodville and just sat out on the porch and listened to the old men out there talk. They talked about taxes, gardening, land, and sometimes they were just silent. They were probably wondering what in the world I was doing there, but I don't really care. It was a peaceful morning with new scenery, new people, and nice weather. I don't know about you, but sometimes I get so caught up in the speed of the world that I forget to slow down and just take in the scenery. But, taking time to rest and absorb things around me is an important part of being a creative professional. It helps me get fresh ideas and just sit and think for a while. That morning I was able to do just that.
