Kellye & Jeff - Feb 19th (Jackson Louisiana Wedding Photographer)

As a wedding photographer, sometimes it's easy for things to become routine for me. But every once in a while, something comes along that smacks me upside the head and reminds me of just how important my job is.

Kellye & Jeff's small ceremony and dinner at their brand new house was just the reminder I needed. They each have 3 kids individually, so together that makes 6 kids and the two of them (but not all live at home.)

Their ceremony was in the living room, and afterward came pictures, cake, & then after the guests (except me) left, the "new" family sat down for a nice dinner together around the table. That's when I noticed just how much of an honor it was to even be invited to be in the room. What a special moment- the first dinner as a family together. The conversations, the silence, and the in-between of a new family...

Moments like that make me feel honored, and help me realize how important family can be.

Thanks, guys, for just allowing me to be there. I hope you have plenty of great images to remember this happy day.

Marcy & Chad Engagement session

It's not every day someone drives 3 hours to come do a portrait session with me! Marcy and Chad drove from McGee, Mississippi to come do their engagement photos with me, and then went home that night to pack their things and move to Georgia the next day!
I had a good time meeting them, and I'm looking forward to their wedding next weekend at Desert Plantation.

New meeting place in St Francisville

I've been working out of my home for the last 2.5 years, and it is great. However, my house is very far out in the country and I've often needed a closer place to meet with people. Finally, I have a place to do that! I'm renting this conference room in St Francisville, inside the same building as Coastal Ecology and J.A. Wheeler and Associates, next door to the post office. I'm looking forward to using it for the photography workshop and for a great place to let people see their pictures on the big screen!

Kelly & Alex

Kelly & Alex met me at Rosedown plantation for their family pictures. It's not usually one of my normal locations, but for them, it was perfect. This is one good-looking mom and daughter pair!

Tanner Senior

Tanner is a senior this year at Zachary High School, and apparently his life is all about baseball! I enjoyed taking his pictures one morning at the Zachary baseball complex. Watch out, north Louisiana ladies- he's headed up there for college!

Tiffany and Derek's 12x18 mounted prints

Tiffany and Derek's wedding was at a little white church near Liberty, Mississippi last November (11-11-11). Recently Tiffany ordered some of the 12x18 prints, and the came out so pretty. Here's what the mounted prints look like in real life.

Alexis- Hemingbough Bridal portraits (St Francisville Wedding Photographer)

Alexis and Michael, from Lake Charles, got married this weekend at Hemingbough in Saint Francisville. I didn't photograph their wedding, but I did their engagement pictures and her bridal portraits.

Here are a few of my favorites from her bridal session at Hemingbough. Congratulations on their April Fool's Day wedding!!

A small note- Alexis and her mom blamed their April fool's day wedding for me having Ruben, our baby boy, on Leap Day. Ha ha.

Hemingbough Romance (St Francisville wedding photographer)

Last week I had to drop off some pictures at Hemingbough, a beautiful wedding venue in Saint Francisville where I've photographed several weddings and bridal portrait sessions. Hemingbough isn't the typical plantation venue because there is no "plantation house" and no oak alley. What it does offer, though, is a vast piece of property, a lake, a gazebo on a peninsula, and most people's favorite, the huge Greek amphitheater where nearly all of the ceremonies take place. And PEACOCKS. Lots of them.
When I first drove up, these peacocks were right beside the front entrance. According to the staff, it's peacock breeding season, so the male was really strutting his stuff.
I decided to call him David, and the little female in the puddle "Bathsheba."
These are a few quick Instagram shots.
