Mistakes? No, Learning Experiences. St Francisville Wedding, Senior, Family Photography

While rummaging through some hard drives yesterday, I wandered upon a folder containing the very first wedding, senior, and bridal sessions I ever photographed, all in 2004 or 2005. These were shot with a film camera- a kit containing a Minolta body and several lenses that my mom bought me for my birthday at a pawn shop for $150.00 total. At the time, I was so proud of these pictures! Surprisingly, some of the pictures are ones I still enjoy looking at. Many others, however, are a somewhat embarrassing testimony to how much I've learned over the years of being a professional photographer.

A friend of mine once said that he doesn't consider mistakes as "mistakes," but instead, learning experiences. That has been a philosophy I've tried to adopt in everything I do as well-- in life and in business. I have a long way to go, but hope to continue learning from my "learning experiences." Although, I hope that my future learning experiences won't ever be this bad again!

No one is perfect, but when we can learn something from a mess-up, we've improved ourselves.

For the fun of it, please vote for the worst picture based on the photographic skills. Be nice to the subjects- they're all still friends of mine (but maybe not after posting these!)

Isn't that interesting. You posted my sister's wedding pictures the same day I sent you a message about doing my daughter's wedding. I am looking forward to talking to you about it.
