Travis's Seniors

I have a confession... I used to be a band geek. I played clarinet for around 9 years, beginning in 6th grade. Although my high school popularity standings were around the lower 90th percentile, I'm thankful for all the musical appreciation I learned through band, and I guess for all the exercise from marching band??, not to mention the great friends. My love for music was definitely honed through those years. I actually hated playing the high notes on the clarinet, so I used to fake being bad so I could play the 2nd or 3rd parts, which are almost always lower harmonies and not melodies. It took the pressure off and allowed me to enjoy the music, instead of stressing over the harder and less enjoyable high notes.
Travis brought back some good band memories yesterday when he walked into my office for his senior photo shoot. He plays several different instruments including the marimba (essentially a xylophone), electric, and acoustic guitar, and plans to major in musical composition combined with chemical engineering. On top of listening to the band Dream Theater, he also likes to jump off tall buildings. We had quite an adventure climbing up to interesting places in an alley in downtown Marble Falls. One of these pictures reminds me of the movie, City of Angels, which I happened to watch with BAND friends back in the good-old band geek days. I don't think I would change a thing about that part of my past. TM
